Nutmeg (Myristica Fragran) is seed of the Nutmeg tree native of Indonesia, due to the plants are origin Banda and Moluccas. Plants of Nutmeg spread to Java Island when expedition of Marcopollo to Tiongkok passed Java Island in 1271 until 1295. Then, the cultivation of Nutmeg trees continued spreading up to Sumatera.
Nutmeg has a nutty, warm, and slightly sweet flavor is used throughout the world in a variety of sweet and savory dishes. In America, Nutmeg is known as a primary flavoring spice for eggnog and mulled cider. In Indian cuisine, Nutmeg can be found as an ingredient in curries and the spice mix garam masala. While in Europe, it is used to flavor meats, potatoes, sauces and vegetables. And in Eastern countries, Nutmeg is used as a drug, and nutmeg oil is used in cosmetics and toiletries.
